We went to the Del Mar Fair last Sunday and we had a lot of fun. We bought a huge caveman turkey leg and people were looking at us like we were crazy people. I don’t know if they cringe at the food or they want to try it too. Hey! That’s one of the reason why you go to the fair, to have fun and try everything you haven’t tried. Anyway, the kids enjoyed every inch of it and they got to ride 15 kinds of rides. The happiness on their faces was priceless.

It’s been another good year – I sell real estate in Omaha, a market that is thriving. I know at the end of it I am going to need a vacation. I’ve been to most of the world’s great cities – New York, Tokyo, Lincoln. Ironically, I have not been to the City of Angels, and I intend to change that during the holidays later this year.
I’ve already started looking for a place to stay. When looking for holiday rentals in LA, I checked out hotels at first, but then realized I wanted something that felt like a home away from home. Luckily, the internet was full of great holiday rentals. Los Angeles has so much to offer in that regard.
Ever since the old days when Jed Clampett was drawling on my TV, I always wanted to spend some time living – or at least staying – in Beverly Hills. While chances are that I will never strike oil, my eyes popped out of my ol’ Cornhusker skull when I saw that I could get a penthouse in BH for rates as low as $169.99 per night. Compared to what I would pay for a hotel, with its thin walls and constant noise and “companionship”, I found myself pretty excited.
Of course, a part of me wants to stay in Hollywood – where the action and the magic are, and the streets are paved with stars. Apartments are available there too, for short term leasing. When it comes to holiday rentals in LA, one thing is certain: I won’t lack choices! And I’ll have something to make the folks back home jealous with!
We went to the outlet store a few weeks ago, we wandered and bought something for our kids too. As we were walking towards our car I noticed this beautiful flower and I could not help myself but to take pictures of it. I didn’t have my nice camera with me but my iPhone can take good pictures too so I use it instead. I thought this flower is lovely and I love to color of it. I don’t know its name though. Do you know what kind of flower this is?

Flashlights have been around for a long time and are found in just about every modern day home. They can really come in handy in an emergency when the power goes out or when working on a project where light is needed in a specific area of your project such as underneath the hood of a car or working inside of a computer where extra light might be needed to see. Flashlights have come a long way. I can remember when it was a simple cylinder object with an incandescent bulb inside and 2 size “D” batteries to power the device. Now the incandescent bulb has been replaced by halogen bulbs and then lately it’s been LED type lamps. My husband carries one on him every day when he goes to work as he has a holster for it that he carries on his belt loop. He said that since he bought his flashlight from a popular manufacturer, the company has switched over to LED type lamps which are a brighter white light, consumes less energy and uses less battery power.

My husband had to switch over to the newer style led lamp. He said this lamp is guaranteed for life and out performs the older incandescent lamps in both power and savings. My husband works for a major transportation company repairing city buses and he is always in need of a reliable flashlight. He says he couldn’t work without his Pelican LED flashlight because he uses it almost 5 hours every day. He said that all the workers in his work have switched over to LED type flashlights. He says that he has dropped his flashlight many times during the week and he said it never stops working. He says try doing that with an older type incandescent style lamp and he says it will probably break the light bulb which cost about $10.00 apiece. I think the LED light bulb is more reliable and cost effective. We had a older style flashlight in our home but it broke so I think we should purchase an LED flashlight for emergencies. We went to the beach today after our gym workout. It was hot and many beach goers at that time too. It took us forever to finally get a spot, cars were parked every parking spaces we could ever imagine, most of the people parked a few blocks away from the beach. Gladly after 20 minutes to driving around the husband finally got a space near the beach. Patience is indeed virtue! Anyway, we went to the pier to fish. We got our own fishing rods and it took us 2 hours to get one mackerel. Ugh! Yes, you heard it right 2 hours to get one fish. I guess it wasn’t a great day to fish because there’s not a lot of fish in the area. Other fishermen experienced the same thing too. Oh well, not the best day to fish but at least I got one for my dinner tonight. Fresh fish is always yummy!

My cousin in Texas posted a video of her son playing piano. It was so nice to hear him play and he did it really well. I wish I know how to play piano and have the patience/time to learn how to play. They have a piano similar to yamaha p95 at wwbw and the sound is really soothing to my ears. I really salute those kids who have variety of talents especially in the field of music because they can enhance it to do even better and who knows they’ll become a popular musician in the future. I wish I could embed the video of his kid playing piano so YOU guys can hear him play as well. He is such a talented kid and I’m sure my cousin is so proud of him. I love it when he plays romantic and classic songs through his piano because it’s relaxing and entertaining to listen to.
Last Sunday we went to the park. Our congregation was gathered together for a BBQ party and it was enjoyable moment because it’s been awhile since we had this kind of get together. The park was nice and the playground was newly remodeled too. The sand is so fine that the kids had fun walking on it and playing with it. It was also a warm day and perfect for grilling. It was a nice gathering and we can’t wait to do it again.

The other day was the hottest day in San Diego; we took advantage of the day by taking our kids to the water park at Otay Ranch. They have this park where kids can play with waters and there’s no entrance fee whatsoever so I thought might as well take the kids over there instead of going to a place where we have to pay just to play in the water. This is the best place for kids because they have nice playground too, unfortunately it get too warm in this place. It was 93 degree F and the breeze was warm too, good thing it wasn’t that humid but it was enough to get sunburn. My kids had fun though and that’s what matters most.

I’m a busy mom and most of the time I can’t bake gourmet desserts for my family. Buying already made is convenient for me since it takes time to prepare and bake a cake or something like that. Well, my husband is the one who loves to cook in our household but because of his busy schedule and all he wants to do is to rest during his days off, he rarely bake for desserts too.
