Mountain Hawk Park

The other day was the hottest day in San Diego; we took advantage of the day by taking our kids to the water park at Otay Ranch. They have this park where kids can play with waters and there’s no entrance fee whatsoever so I thought might as well take the kids over there instead of going to a place where we have to pay just to play in the water. This is the best place for kids because they have nice playground too, unfortunately it get too warm in this place. It was 93 degree F and the breeze was warm too, good thing it wasn’t that humid but it was enough to get sunburn. My kids had fun though and that’s what matters most.

I’m a busy mom and most of the time I can’t bake gourmet desserts for my family. Buying already made is convenient for me since it takes time to prepare and bake a cake or something like that. Crossing Mexico

We live near the Mexico border and it’s easy to cross the border but hard to come back in United States. If you drive back it will take at least 2 hours of waiting to cross back in the US but crossing to the border will take minutes. We don’t need to show anything to go to the Mexico, I know it because we’ve done it before and I’ve been to Mexico several years ago. I went there to go see a dentist that was referred to us by our Mexican friend. I decided to have my tooth pulled-out over there because I didn’t have health insurance at the time and it cost a lot of money to have it done here in US. I paid $50 for everything and that includes the medicines, compared to here in the US, they’ll charge me $90 just to see the doctor, which is ridiculous. Anyway, this bridge is the crosswalk towards Mexico. I might go back there in the future because a friend in our congregation invited us to go there and she’ll be the tourist guide.

Little Manila in San Diego

If you are Filipino who happened to visit San Diego, CA I would suggest you to stop by at the National City Plaza Blvd because that’s where you will find the so-called Little Manila. Majority of the residents in this area are Filipinos and Filipinos also own many businesses here. This is where the first Seafood City is located and gradually they’ve expanded more into different areas here. The only drive-thru Jollibee is also found in this area. We rarely visit here though because we have a closer Seafood City in Chula Vista and it’s a big store too.

Kalamansi

Yesterday I went to my Mama B’s house for a little get together. Well, she and her children together with her children’s family were there and ate Alita and I enjoyed the meal altogether. Well, actually before we went to mama B’s house we attended a memorial ceremony to show support to the family of our dear friend who passed away. After the service we had a little refreshment and we went straight ahead to mama B’s house because she invited us over. We stayed there until the evening, we were just talking, eating and watching movies. Good thing my kids didn’t get bored and asked me to drive them home. While we were there, I asked one of Mama B’s friends for some kalamansi who lives in the neighborhood. She has lots of fruits in her backyard and sugarcane. I harvested her ripe kalamansi because I have some friends online who asks me for it.

Drive-in Theater

Have you tried drive-in theater yet? How did you like it? We’ve been living in this neighborhood for nearly 7 years now but we haven’t experienced to watch movies through drive-in theaters yet until last night. We watched THE CROODS, the second movie was G.I Joe but we left before it started because it was already late at night and my son has to go to school the following day. It was drizzling too and the husband had to turn on the car often to wipe and dry the windshield off from raindrops. I enjoyed it though. Of course the screen wont be as bright and clear as in the movie house but the sound was loud and clear. They had us tuned in to a specific radio station to be able to hear the sound of the movie. What’s great about drive-in theater is that we can bring our own food, lounge chair and it’s very affordable too. $7 for each adult and ages 5-9 is $1, ages 5 below is free. We get to watch two movies per ticket too. Cool huh? I love this place and I can’t wait to go back and watch more movies.
