My Favorite Book

The article written by Isidro Carter

My favorite book is The Black Stallion by Walter Farley. I read this book when I was a child and this book, along with the complete follow-up series has remained one of my top favorite reads over decades. Interesting, engaging, and filled with action-packed adventure, The Black Stallion is a wonderful read that both kids and adults can enjoy.

In the beginning of the book, the main character, Alex Ramsey, is a young boy who is in a ship wreck. Also on the ship is a wild black stallion from the Arabian Desert. Though he is a wild and untamed stallion and the boy is young and unfamiliar with horses, they are the only two creatures on the island other than venomous snakes and other wild habitat. The boy and horse form a bond that is unbreakable and Alex begins spending his days riding the thrillingly fast stallion over the beaches of the island.

Once they are rescued, after several weeks spent stranded together, the boy takes the horse back to the United States with him where he meets a professional race horse trainer. Demonstrating incomparable speed, The Black, as the horse is known, is set to race against the nation’s leading Thoroughbreds in a match race. I have found that though I enjoy watching Direct.TV when I am not reading, that this books is a favorite of my collection.

Reaching out for the coffee while driving

My husband’s co-working was on graveyard shift when this happened. According to the incident report, my husband’s co-worker was doing a road test of the bus at that time and while he was driving to the shop, he hit a stationary service truck that was parked on the side of the road. How? Well, he was trying to reach for his coffee and he didn’t realize that there was a stationary truck ahead of him at the right hand side of the bus. My husband’s co-worker is really in trouble and he might lose his job too. The owner of the service truck that got hit probably didn’t know yet because until now the truck was still there and hasn’t been touched yet. He filed a police report about the incident though. Now the company that my husband works for has to pay for the damages that his co-worker had done. I’m sure that the owner of that truck will find out after the thanksgiving holiday when everyone goes back to work. Bummer! The moral lesson is that we all need to become a responsible driver. Nevertheless, if we are driving, our eyes should only be focused on the road ONLY! No distraction, so there will be no accidents.

Crying baby!

Every time my daughter whines it makes me want to hide and go someplace else. Sometimes I can’t imagine myself ignoring my daughter’s cries because it breaks my heart but I need to get over it and try not to let it bother me. Other times, I feel like I’m inadequate parent because I can’t figure out why she cries. I don’t even know why she cries. I tried to console and fed her in hopes of making her settle down but it’s not working sometimes. Like for instance, right at this moment while I’m writing this article, she’s right in front of me throwing some tantrums. I’m pretending to be OK right now but I feel like I am so vulnerable and ready to burst out. If she’ll keep on doing this each day I’m sure my wrinkles will be multiplied. If only her tears turns into an anti wrinkle lotion, I don’t mind her crying at all. As a matter of fact, I will be the one to provoke her to whine and cry. LOL. Nah, I’m just kidding aside!

Pimple scar

You and I can unquestionably tell whether a person suffered from relentless acne problem during their teenage years or not. And that is by simply looking at their facial skin. If they’re in their 30’s and above and you see their faces with lots of pimple scar no doubt about it, they probably went through a shameful teenage years. Base on my experience, I suffered from acne problem. My acne wasn’t a lot but whenever I have one, two or three. I’m telling you, they are so embarrassing because they usually grow right on my nose and they’re huge and reddish in color. I hated it because they were so visible and I got tired of it. Sometimes I get to the point where I poke it with needle. Ouch! And that’s how scar my face. I totally regret it because I can still see the scars even up to this day.

My Favorite Book

The article written by Michael Mason

My Favorite Book is A World Without End by Ken Follet. It is the second part of a book called Pillars of the Earth. I really enjoyed every moment of reading this book.

I read quite a lot and go through at least two books in a weeks time and I haven’t found one that has captivated me as much as World Without End. There is such good plot and characters in the book, it makes it almost impossible to put down. There are other things I enjoy doing besides reading, but I love to be able to disappear to another time and place after a long hard day of working and watching my kids.

Overall, if I’m not reading books I’m probably watching satellite television from directstartv. There is nothing better in the world than relaxation time and time away from everyone just if it’s for a few hours or after everyone has gone to bed. It’s a good way to keep my sanity and prepare myself for the next day and the obstacles it may bring.

Ms. McKinley 2010

I posted some of my cousin’s local pageant photos in my other blog but for the sake of those who hasn’t been able to visit my other blog, I decided to post and share some of her photos here too. My cousin is a Filipino-American and she was born in the Philippines. This was her first time to join in the beauty pageant and fortunately she won the title Ms. McKinley 2010 and took home most of the major awards. She’s in college right now. How I wish that one day I will see her on TV, joining national beauty pageant. She definitely has the body and beauty.

Consumer reviews

Since my sister was asking some favor if I could buy her some acne treatment because she’s having unwanted zits, I decided to check online and read some acne treatment reviews. I read something about acsonix. Accordingly, it’s a powerful treatment that works in seconds after the application. I will put this product in my lists but I will have to some more research and look for some more acne products. Of course I will have to consider reading some more consumer reviews to be certain before purchasing one. I want to make sure that the acne treatment I bought is good and it will work for my sister’s skin type.

Fancy shoes and boots on sale!

My husband and I are so tired of buying cheap work boots for me, just to have them start falling apart 6 months later. I don’t who thought of that old phrase “You get what you pay for” But they were absolutely correct. I think we only paid about $30 dollars for my husband’s work boots and he said they are already falling apart and they wont last much longer. Some of my husband’s co-workers brag to him about their work boots being so old and lasting for so long that he feels embarrassed when they say that. He likes these styles of work boots that he found online because it looks like the boots are made with quality materials and workmanship and they cost so much more than his work boot did. I would love to buy these kind of work boots for my husband because its worth the money. I don’t know if there’s a zappos shoes store near where we live. Anyway, I was glancing thru the online store and found these cute little Mia kids Cowgirl toddler/youth boots for our daughter . These boots add a touch of western style appearance to my daughters wardrobe.

Now that I found this website (Zappos dot com), I want to buy these boots for my daughter because I have an outfit that will match these style of boots (photo above). Believe it or not, I was browsing through some other shoes for infants and I came across these infants black pediped Natasha shoes that are so identical to the ones we bought at a well known branded store in plaza bonita shopping mall. It was the same brand of shoe we bought for our daughter but we paid a lot more for these than what they cost here at zappos. I wish we would have known that so we could have saved some money. I would like to get a pair of boots for myself too. Of course, you know woman, we always have to have the latest and greatest fashion like these fancy Ros Hommerson satin boots. These are classy and durable shoes.

Landmarks in San Diego

I took these photos while we were driving in the van. We were heading down to pacific beach when I saw some of these fun activities here in San Diego. The first photo is one of the famous rides called “The Giant Dipper” in Mission beach. And the second photo is the famous “The Journey To Atlantis” water rides at SeaWorld. Hopefully we can go to the SeaWorld next year.

What is mesothelioma?

Whenever I hear someone talking about Mesothelioma Cancer I automatically think about my husband who is a bus mechanic for a large transportation company. For those of you who don’t know or are not aware, those people who work in the following positions of employment: eletricians, auto mechanics, construction workers, boilers and boilermakers, plumbers, and those people working with brakes on cars are all at risk of developing mesothelioma cancer. My husband has been an auto mechanic most of his life and he does work on all kinds of brake systems and clutch systems. What bothers me the most is that he is exposed to asbestos from brakes shoes and pads almost everyday which is a leading cause of mesothelioma cancer. Despite the warnings of the 1970′s and 1980′s, asbestos can still be found on some cars. Some foreign parts manufacturers and some aftermarkets companies still produce asbestos brake and clutch parts. The chemicals found in the brake and clutch parts are hazardous to your health.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that most frequently arises from the cells lining the sacs of the chest (the pleura) or the abdomen. Pleural mesothelioma is the most common form, often presenting with symptoms in the chest area. Peritoneal mesothelioma is much less common. This can effect the organs in the abdomen, and its symptoms are related to this area of the body, that is, abdominal swelling, nausea, vomiting, and bowel obstruction. The rarest form of mesothelioma is pericardial mesothelioma, which involves the sac surrounding the heart. If you or someone you know of is suffering from mesothelioma, there is a free support book out written by a man named Paul Kraus who outlived his prognosis of mesothelioma cancer by a year. The name of the book is called Surviving Mesothelioma: A Patients Guide. It can offer you hope, support and alternative ways to fight this form of cancer. Please consider the information from this book as a blessing for those who suffer from this disease.
