Kiran Spot Resist kitchen faucet

My husband and I have been renting an apartment for more than 6 years now and the place where we currently reside desperately needs a remodeling job. Specifically speaking, the kitchen sink needs a lot of work.  I always see those commercials about Moen kitchen faucets and it would just be so nice to own one of these Kiran Spot Resist one-handle pulldown kitchen faucet. The sink is rusty and the faucet often leaks when you turn it on. We have a double bowl sink which helps out a lot but the pull down spout is broken and no longer works.

Actually, the whole sink system is tied into the dishwasher and when we use the dishwasher, we have to set the bottle of dishwashing soap over the top of the pull down spout so that it doesn’t spray water all over the place. It’s ugly because it leaves water spots and finger prints all over no matter how much we clean it. We’ve tried getting the manager to replace the sink for us but to no avail. The stainless steel bowl on our kitchen sink has some stains around the faucet area which we’ve tried cleaning but with no success. When my husband is washing the dishes, I always get tired of him complaining about the stream of the water coming out of the faucet. It never comes out straight and shoots out to one side so he has to adjust the faucet neck to one side so the water doesn’t shoot over to the kitchen counter top. You would think that with all the problems we have with our kitchen faucet, the manager would be nice and replace it. I love the high neck design of this moen faucet compared to ours and it would be nice to enjoy a kitchen sink that doesn’t leave fingerprints and water stains but is always nice and shiny. I really love the relex system which makes it really easy to rinse the dishes without mess and when finished, it docks securely to the faucet. We’ve seen the Moen Kiran faucet in Lowe’s home improvement store. It’s a really nice faucet.

Making some room for our kitchen

We live in an apartment where kitchen is very small. We sure need kitchen cabinet organizer here that way my kitchen will look neat and tidy despite of it’s little space. One thing that I thought of having is the trash can door mount because I don’t have a special place for it in our kitchen so I normally hide it next to the dining table, which is odd but I don’t have a choice. I just can’t wait to have our own house that way I can do whatever I want in my kitchen and adding kitchen cabinet organizer would be one of my top priority in our kitchen makeover.

Perfect Sleep from Nature’s Product

We live in a two bedroom apartment and it’s really hard for 4 members. Our children has to sleep in the same bedroom and the only way we can make some room for our children’s bedroom is by getting them a bunk bed. It works for now since they’re still young. We are preparing our budget for a house in the future where my children can have their own bedroom. The kind of bunk bed I bought is detachable. I can always detach it in case we moved-in to a 3-4 bedroom house. I found a very similar to my children’s bunk bed and it’s at SimplyBunkBeds.com for kids bunk beds (photo below). It’s only been 2 years for this bed, but since I have a very curious children and they get into things they are not supposed to, scratches are visible all over the bed rails and drawers.  

Sturdy furniture

Typical average home owners back in my hometown Philippines have log furniture. My father is a mechanic and handyman by profession; he built our house and some of the log furniture that we have. We have log stools and log beds. As far as I am concerned, log furniture is way better than steel furniture. They’re unique and sturdy. Besides, whenever it’s built by father I consider it the best and so special. We also have a 3 feet high log cutting board back home in the Philippines that my father had made. They used it a lot. My parents have a family business and that is slaughtering the pigs (buy and sell), they used that cutting board to chop off the meat into pieces.

First time renter

My Filipino neighbors next door are first time apartment renter. They didn’t have any experience on how it’s like to rent and they don’t know a lot about tenant’s rights. They’re unaware of a lot of things and I believe it’s the landlord’s responsibility to explain things to them, but I guess they were taken advantage by the landlord. When they came to rent the apartment they didn’t have a lot of appliances like refrigerator. Gladly, the manager who used to rent the apartment they’re renting right now rented a refrigerator. They rented it from the Appliances for Rent Company here in our place and I guess the landlord told the tenant that they’re going to pull out the refrigerator without giving notice to the new tenants about some fees. So, the manager and the tenant had an argument because of miscommunication. I feel sorry for my new neighbor because they have bad experience in renting an apartment as first time renters. I told them that there are cheap whirlpool appliances downtown if they want to purchase appliances particularly the refrigerator. Our refrigerator, washer and dryer are manufactured by whirlpool Corporation and we got them affordably. Days later I was told that they were able to settle the problem and they get to keep the refrigerator.

My aunt’s properties in the Philippines

I was looking at my aunt’s (she’s in Texas) Facebook page and I saw some photos of her new house that she recently bought somewhere in her province. She had it renovated and it’s almost done. I buzzed her this afternoon to ask her how many properties she already owned. She told me that she has three properties in 3 different locations. She said that she’s selling one of her properties because she wants to purchase a condo unit in Makati, Philippines. She told me that she wants to hire an Outdoor Site Furnishings Company to help her furnish the backyard of her new house. She specifically wants to have some fancy Adirondack chairs in her patio and some Park Benches in her front yard.

My aunt is also planning to renovate my grandparent’s house. Their house is nearby the beach and it’s almost like a rest house. I like it over there because of the ambiance and far from any pollution. My uncle built a few custom Picnic Tables and they put it close to the shore. That’s where the family usually gathers when they go to the beach and lay all the goodies on the picnic table.

It’s gone!

We got rid of our mattresses that come with a spring box in just a matter of hours. We were suppose to dump it in our dumpster but we weren’t allowed to do so because the garbage management told us that we will be charged $20 per mattress if we decided to do that, so what we did, we took our mattresses outside our apartment in the middle of the night so no one can see us. The following morning we checked and it was gone. My husband told me that some people from Mexico go around the neighborhood and they usually take all kinds of free stuff that they see on the street. I don’t know why they take them. But least we didn’t have to worry about getting rid of our mattresses and we didn’t have to pay just to get rid of it. Now we know that someone will take anything that we want to get rid of.

We don’t have a home stereo system but we have home speakers. My husband hooked our TV into our home speakers to help to increase the volume of our TV up. We used to have a home stereo but since we never use it, it had gotten to a point where it damaged the inside part of the stereo and so my husband decided to get rid of it. He gave it to our neighbor’s friend. My husband told them that it’s not working but they took it still. I don’t know where they are going to use it for since it’s not working anymore. But hey, every man’s trash can be someone else’s treasure.
